I have long since moved on from here and have moved to www.earthtodavid.com which is now my personal website / blog. I may or may not be in business of selling my handmade things when you get there but I will be starting a new store online although I'm really not sure when. I am currently knitting up a bunch of stuff and have plans to start making more hemp jewelry. The candles didn't quite work out because I still haven't figured out how to make good quality candles yet haha but I'm working on that. Last night I purchased a domain for my website. It's a name I chose not only because it is catchy, cool, and fun... but also because it will remind me never to settle for whatever I can get in a relationship ever again.

See folks I told you I was gonna be fine :-)

The new domain isn't fully activated yet, but it should be by tomorrow hopefully. As some of you have probably noticed I haven't been posting much to this blog over the past week. Some of you know why, and some of you don't. The thing is, I've had a major dissapointment in my life recently and I'm working on picking up the pieces and moving on with my life. I found out my partner, Trey was cheating on me and I kicked his sorry ass out of my crib. That's right folks, he and I were more than just partners in this little craft journey. I thought he and I were partners for life. I thought he had his act together but apparently he doesn't and I stooped to my lowest level of sanity thinking I had a good thing here with him. It's alright though, he's worse off than I am believe me. Don't ask for details.

There are going to be some major changes for me, and that means I may not be maintaining this blog as frequently as I normally do. I still plan on broadcasting the cam and look forward to chatting with all the friends I have made here thus far. If you have ordered something from me rest assured that I am still working on getting it completed and sent out to you. However there are a lot of things in my life that I need to focus on to get my life in order so it may just take me some time. Please bare with me on that.

Don't worry about me I am fine. Sure I'm madder than a fucking wet hen about it all, but you know what... you live and you learn and you take what you learn and use it to make yourself better. I won't share specific details but Trey is going to find himself running for a long, long time and he deserves whatever he gets from here on out for what he did to me.

Pay no attention to the profile still on this blog. I'll get around to changing it as soon as I can but know this. My screen name on that site is "coolguysknit" and when I entered the chat room using that screen name I was greeted mostly as normally as anyone else would have been... but there was this one person... I'm not sure if it was a guy or girl... was asking me about the website I said I was putting together for our storefront. When I told him/her tha my room mate and I knit and do other crafts I wasn't even able to get to the part about telling about how we're opening our own business online selling the things we make before this person spouted out "Your gonna make a website about THAT!" It was like this person never heard of guys doing this sort of thing. Or maybe this person thought this was a gay thing or whatever. WHATEVER BIOTCH!

Anyway I'm not gonna rant and rave about it because that would just fucking be boring as hell right! Right!! What I do wanna say is that it's not a gay thing, not a straight thing. It's just two guys who happen to be room mates and enjoys crafting... maybe me being the biggest craftaholic... but whatever. We don't knit sweaters... that's too grandma'ish... we don't knit socks... let your mother do that for you! We do make some freaking awesome fashion accessories for all you girls out there who always say "Damn! I think a guy who knits is hot!" Well quit freaking saying it and buy something dammit lol. We're working for you. And for all you guys out there we make some fucking cool ass caps... and wait until you see the jewelry we got coming along...

Hey didn't I say I wasn't gonna rant and rave... oooops, my bad!

You know something you guys, I tried to get my roomie to join as an author on our blog but apparently he has declined the invitation... I don't know why... I mean he is supposed to be in this thing with me. Some partner huh lol.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://david34.blogspot.com/2006/04/is-guy-who-knits-really-that-strange.html' title='Is A Guy Who Knit's Really That Strange? We are fast becoming forced to stay at home. This was supposed to be a summer of fun... getting out to go places... site seeing and stuff, but that all may not happen if gas prices continue to rise.

It sucks!! But I guess we've got plenty of things to do here to keep us busy in the meantime.

Trey has been busy rebuilding his computer since he's not working anymore and he might start back into crafting some new stuff soon. I've been working on many things like trying to come up with new original jewelry designs and knit things to put on our website... which I'm still working on... yes STILL.

I've been looking at this blog lately and it's starting to look like it's time to reconstruct it's template. It's getting cluttered with all the new stuff we've added to the side bar. I'm thinking I may put this blog back into a new three column template.

Maybe by the time we get all this done, gas may go down a bit so we can get and do some site seeing.

My First Summer Project

It's finally my favorite time of the year when the weather is nice and warm. It's in the corner of the uppermost level of the new four level car park that was recently built at our local hospital. And what is really cool is that I can connect to a free public internet connection to surf the web, check email, make posts to this blog... You can see me there in the picture writing this post. How cool is that!?

Prayer Shawl Finally Finished

Front and back pictures. Hopefully you can see the colors better in these pictures. Now that this is finished I still have one more to do but I think I'll give myself a few days break before starting it.

Maybe I'll try to finish a hat that has been on the needles for a month and a half waiting to get finished and then I'll start the next shawl. Who knows? I'm kinda anxious to see how the other shawl is going to look so I may dive into it after the weekend is over. I really had fun making this one and thats saying a lot because I don't normally like projects this big. Let me know what you think of it. Notice how much fringe there is.... I tend to over-do it a bit with my fringe sometimes but I think this came out looking nice.
<img width='1' height='1' They can be for knitting or crocheting.

I love to check anniesattic everyday and usually it's the first thing I do before I even check my email and I was just wondering if there might be more?

Knitting Bloggers

Knitting Bloggers Over 800 blogs about knitting. But Couldn't You Make Your Own?

I was doing a little morning surfing and found little gadgets at AnniesAttic.com and thought to myself, "Wow, those are really cool!". Then the creative crafty side of me started thinking that instead of paying nearly 4 bucks for some cleverly crafted plastic discs why couldn't I just as easily make some out of some cardboard that would be just as functional and FREE!!! I mean once you wrap them up and cover them with yarn your not going to see them anyway right so why use something fancy even if they are only $3.95 for a 3-pack. Hell, for that matter I've never had a problem wrapping a neat yarn ball all by myself without a contraption such as this. All I do is grab a paper towel or two and ball it up and then use that to wrap my yarn around and I end up with a very neat yarn ball. Hmmmm I think I'll just stick to my old ways of wrapping a yarn ball and save both money and time! Sorry anniesattic I won't be buying none of these. Save them for the yarn snobs who have nothing better to do with their money lol.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://david34.blogspot.com/2006/03/yarn-daisies-cool-idea-but-couldnt-you.html' title='Yarn Daisies - Cool Idea!!! We weren't looking for furniture that matched. We wanted something REALLY CHEAP, but it had to be comfortable. We found a sleeper sofa and a rocker for just pennies less than 70 bucks.

Here is the sofa we got for only $49.88 dollars. The sleeper frame is broken but that's ok. It could be fixed if we really needed it to be fixed. The important thing is that we got a very good sofa in great condition really cheap.

This is my new knitting chair. It rocks and swivels side to side so I now have a comfortable place to sit and watch tv while I'm knitting or surfing the web on my laptop. It is in really great condition. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't recline but for less than $15.00 I'm not complaining.

Tomorrow I'm going out shopping for a round coffee table and a colorful area rug.

Oh yeah, I'm still working on the prayer shawl and it's coming along great so far. Maybe I'll post a picture of it tomorrow.

Dariabar.com

Dariabar.com - Luxury crochet hooks... Yesterday I was out shopping and ventured into the salvation army store and they had a whole rack full of sweaters they were selling for 50 cents. I grabbed 8 of them. You really can't tell what colors they are in this picture and I didn't intend to show them off up close. I just wanted to brag about the deal I got. I will say that one of the sweaters is made from a beautiful black chenille type yarn and a couple of the sweaters are tweeds... and I like tweed yarn. Most of them are acrylic, but they are super soft and a couple of them are cotton I think. One of the tweed sweaters may be wool yarn but I can't tell because it doesn't have a label on it, but it feels kinda scratchy and thats why I think it's wool. I don't have a lot of experience touching wool yarn, but I've heard that some wool can feel scratchy like that. Later on this year I'll show them off a little better when I start attempting to take them apart. I figure that if I'm successful at recycling these then I should get a couple of thousand yards of yarn out of all these. I chose sweaters in colors that would be very suitable for men's scarves that I hope to be able to get started on knitting by next winter. For now these sweaters are going into storage until I finish the prayer shawls I'm working on.

Zibibbo is Good: Flash Your Stash 2006

Zibibbo is Good: Flash Your Stash 2006 Have you guys's heard of Flash Your Stash. Apparently this is the second year running. I don't know if it's a contest or simply just something fun where you get to show off your yarn stash to the entire world. Anyway it should be fun and you've got until April 1st to get your pictures ready.

In other news: I'm busy crocheting two prayer shawls and I'm devoting as much time as possible to finishing them so I can send them out in a hurry. Grocery shopping, house cleaning, and bill paying has been put on hold so I'll have more time to put into them. So that also means I probably won't be posting much on this blog for at least a few days until they are finished. I'll post pictures of them as soon as I get a chance. They are going to be beautiful and I haven't worked on a project that large in ages so I've got a lot of work to do and my goal is to get them mailed out by the end of next week or sooner.

Today I Learned Kumihimo

You can try it too if you like. My partner's grandmother may be passing away soon, and he is going through a very tough time as would be expected. She is a very sweet old lady and even though I've only met her a few times, I am sad to know she's leaving us. Please say a prayer that my partner, Trey, and his family will get through this and that she will have a peaceful passing as the good Lord calls her home.

Crafty Goodies Found At Goodwill Today

I went shopping at Goodwill today in search of a used, but comfortable recliner type chair that I could use to sit in and relax while knitting. I didn't find a chair worth wasting any money on, but for less than 20 bucks I got these...

A Black & Decker toaster oven which I have been desperately wanting/needing for a couple of years. It's going to be perfect for hardening my polymer clay beads which I plan to start making again soon...

And then I found these. Eleven balls of yarn in all. It's certainly not any "high end" yarn, but it's yarn no less. Most of it is old cheap Sayelle acrylic yarn, but there are five balls of cottrica yarn which to me looks like a very thin version of lion brand's homespun yarn that I think will make three or four nice little skinny scarfs that some girls like to wear. It could be as late as the end of summer this year before I get a chance to start working on those. Out of the six balls of the cheapy sayelle acrylic yarn there is only one of them that I like. It is a greenish, orangish, olivish, brownish, tannish tweed yarn that I think is going to make a nice looking cap. I'll probably just throw the other sayelle yarn in the trash because it's just butt ugly but it all came in one sack so I had to buy it all to get the yarns I wanted. Oh well, where else are you gonna get a toaster oven and eleven balls of yarn for less than twenty bucks? I think my partner will be proud of me for finding a deal like this. So who's jealous? lol

Before I'm Gone...a meme, a webring, your dreams...

Before I'm Gone...a meme, a webring, your dreams... Perhaps you might see my list of dreams featured here someday when I can make myself sit down long enough to write them down.

Craft Room's New Look

I wasn't going to write anymore today, but I had to show off my craft room one more time. I still have a lot of work to do, but at least now I can actually SEE what I've got in there. Now all that's left to do is sort through all the boxes and organize the little things. I'm so proud of myself today.... and Leah you are so right... It has taken me a year to get to this point.

I will be time stamping the photos during this project to help me keep track of how long it's actually taking me to do this. As you can see here I have totally cleared everything out of my craft room. Moving everything out only took about 20 minutes or so. Now I'm ready to start putting the room together. First I'm going to start by unpacking and putting the shelf units together since I think those are going to take the longest... even though the boxes they came in quotes that the units can be put together in 2 minutes.... yeah right... Yeah right I'm sure... fumblefingers here can't scratch his ass and chew gum at the same time, but we'll see.

Here are the shelf units I bought. I found these at walmart and paid less than $50.00 for both units. They are made by Plano which is most widely known for their fisherman tackle boxes. These units interlock and the dimensions are 31 X 14.5 X 74 and feature snap-fit assembly which makes them quick and easy to set up.

Ok I'll have to cut this post way short today as I just won't have time to show all the pictures I've taken, however you can see here that I've basically gotten the room set up how I want it. The table, shelfs and drawer organizers are all in place. Now all that's left to do is actually begin organizing things into an appropriate place. There's not a whole lot of space left in the room after adding all these components but I didn't expect that there would be, but at least this way I'll be able to maximize the space that is there. Remember this room is only roughly 8 X 8 feet so I think I've done the best with it that I could have considering all the things I have to keep in there.

I'll be back sometime in the near future with a Part 2 of Operation Craft Room Organization so you can see how it's coming together. Right now I've got to cram all the stuff I removed from the room back in there somehow so that I can relax a bit and figure out what we are going to do for dinner tonight.

A Small Investment To Organize Craft Room

I went shopping yesterday as you can tell. I figured with all of the work I've been doing to get my craft room organized I may as well take it one step forward and set it up really nice and neat so that all of my supplies can be easily accessed when needed. For roughly $145.00 I bought a six foot long folding table, 4 mini drawer organizers, and two interlocking shelf units. Each shelf unit has 5 shelfs and when they get put together they will span the length of the back wall in my craft room which is going to add a lot of storage area in a very narrow space. The table will be placed along the other wall and the drawer units will be lined up on top of the table. The drawer units are going to be great for holding tons of small items and I'll be able to store my yarn bins underneath the table, instead of having them stacked and cluttered somewhere.

Today is going to be a busy day for me as I empty everything out of my craft room to move all this stuff in. My goal for today is to simply get the table, shelf units and the drawer organizers in place. I won't really have time to go through all of my craft supplies to place in the drawers, but at least I'll have the room set up like I want it and then I can go from there. I'll be posting lot's of pictures today as I go along.

Hopefully it will help inspire some of you other crafters to make the investment to get your junk organized as well.

Progress Made Today Getting My Craft Room Together

Here is the latest update on my craft room project.

This was my room on January 12th, 2006. Believe it or not I did a lot of work that day to clear out some major junk that hadn't been used in several years. This room has basically been a storage room to hold useless things that I, being the pack rat that I am, was too lazy to throw out. I've been working on this room little by little over the past few weeks to clear it all out so that I can reorganize all of my craft supplies.

This next photo shows how my room looks now.

Notice you can actually see the carpet all the way across the room now. You wouldn't think that a room only 8 X 8 feet could hold so much junk like it did. Today I got in there and cleared out two boxes, packed a duffle bag full of other smaller bags and neatly stacked what is left in the corner. As you can see I'm slowly clearing it out. At the rate I'm going I'm sure I'll have it all better organized and ready to transform into a neat and tiny little studio for my craft supplies before summer gets here (I hope).

New Outback Camouflage Cap Finished

You know it always seems to rain on the days that I finish a new project so I had to take a picture of this new cap I finished today indoors. So you can't really see the cool colors in this one as well as you could if I could have taken the picture on a sunny day outside. So if you wanna see a better picture you'll have to wait until the weather clears. Also I won't be putting this one up for sale here on my blog until I get a better photo taken.

I have no clue what yarn I'm going to knit up for my next cap. These last two camouflage caps were the only new yarns I've purchased recently. You know what that means right. It's time to go yarn shopping again. This time I think I'm gonna do my yarn shopping on the internet because as some of you will recall about a month ago I did not have a very good experience the last time I left home to go yarn shopping. I've been checking out some websites online that I'm fairly interested in trying out. One of them has a flat $5.99 shipping rate on every order and I think I'm gonna do my shopping with them today because normally it would take roughly 20 bucks worth of gas to make a round trip to hobby lobby in my jeep and I figure if I shop online then I can save 14 dollars of that gas money to buy a few extra balls of yarn.

In the meantime until I can get my hands on some new yarn I guess I'll dig through my little yarn stash and see if any inspiration comes out of it. I don't have too many colors to work with right now so we'll just have to wait and see what I can come up with for my next show and tell.

DROPS Design ~ Free knitting patterns

DROPS Design ~ Free knitting patterns.... So far all I've seen are crochet patterns but they are all great. I recently discovered this and have been having a ball each morning going to see what pattern is being offered.

Also here is a tip. Annies Attic only posts these patterns for one day and there is no archive of patterns that I've seen. Now you could save the page to the free patterns in your favorites, but if you see a pattern posted that you want to save for later use you'll be out of luck because the link in your favorites only takes you to the free pattern page which changes daily, but if you use a web page archiving tool like Furl then you can save a copy of each pattern that you like. Furl is also great for archiving other pages you find useful. In fact, lots of times when I find things online such as patterns, news articles, etc., I use Furl to save a backup copy of the web page instead of simply saving it in my favorites.

Check out Annies Attic and Furl. They are both great sites.

I'm back to working on my website again. I may be purchasing a domain very soon depending on how fast I can get the site ready for grand opening. I don't know what's going to happen to this blog once I switch over to the new domain. I may keep writing here, or I may start a totally new blog over at the new site, or I may not write anymore at all because once the new site is running I plan to focus the majority of my time knitting new items for sale and doing site maintenance. For now I'll keep things rolling here. I'm going to start trying to make an effort to post something here every day until the new site is up.

Don't Pay Your Cellphone Service Provider Huge 411 Charges

Here's a tip I just learned. Did you know that you can call 1-800-FREE-411 to get 411 information for phone numbers you need? Yep you can. Most cellphone providers charge $1.00 or more for 411 information. I have T-Mobile service and they charge $1.25 each time I dial their 411 service. This can save you a lot of money if you use 411 alot. Plug the number into your cellphone and the next time you need to get 411 info use that instead of calling your cellular providers 411 and all you'll pay is the couple of minutes on your plan used to get your info.

Mash Camo Cap

Just finished it this morning. Today I knitted three i-cords with sock yarn on size 4 double points. It was a simple, but time consuming process however I had a lot of fun doing it, and I've got a cool idea for using these which I'm saving for later. I spent most of the morning today and half of the afternoon making these while sitting on the couch with the sunlight coming through the window... with no television or other distractions... Just me, my little sock yarn, my cups of coffee, and quietness.

I Learned The Briotch Stitch

I learned how to do the briotch stitch today. Dumb Stockinette Stitch

Ok you know what I've discovered this past week...... stockinette stitch when knitted flat for a scarf just sucks lol....... for the past four days I've been fighting with a camouflage scarf I wanted to do in stockinette stitch because I wanted to try something different (meaning something other than the usual garter stitch scarf) and while it looked great the darn thing just rolls up into this tube like thing... So I tried doing a seed stitch edge on both sides and that didn't stop it from rolling... So I tried doing a garter stitch edge and even that didn't stop it from rolling. Then I did a 5/1 rib pattern with seed stitch edges and the darn thing still rolls up.

I gave up, ripped it out and now I'm making a hat because I can almost knit a hat with my eyes closed and I know it will turn out exactly like I want it.... grrr!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://david34.blogspot.com/2006/01/arrrrggghhhh-dumb-stockinette-stitch.html' title='Arrrrggghhhh!!!!! I've gone through 85 cd's so far and still have a few hundred to go. I've been recording them at 64kbps which according to my Music Match program is about FM stereo quality sound. At this bitrate I honestly cannot really tell the difference listening to the songs on my mp3 player and listening to them at cd quality sound through my computer speakers... Anyway I have so far only used up 1 gigabyte of space with these songs on my computer, so I am going to be getting a ton of songs on my mp3 player for sure. I'm quite sure that I will be able to get all of my favorite songs from my 400+ cd collection and still have lots of space left for adding and deleting non-permant music files on the player. I can hardly wait to get my mp3 player loaded up. It's going to be so nice to be able to carry every favorite song from my entire cd collection wherever I go. And it's going to be nice to be able to pack up my cd's and store them somewhere out of site.... since they mostly sit around and collect dust anyway lol.

Well here is a picture of the scarf I've been working on. As mentioned before I'm knitting it with Lion Brand Homespun Yarn in the Harvest color. I'm afraid the scarf might not be very long when finished but I think it will be ok. You can't really tell how long it is in this picture since I've got it bunched up on the end table and you can't really see the awesome colors this yarn has, but as I've said before and I'll probably keep saying it.... I'm a much better knitter than I am a photographer. I did the best I could however. It's raining outside today so I can't get outdoors to catch natural light which always seems to make great photos when you want to show off your work. So if you guys can wait for a day when the weather is better around here then I'll promise to get a better picture of this thing to show.

Ok now I would like to take a little while to bitch and moan about Hobby Lobby and Michael's craft stores... ok well not all of them... just the ones I can get to. Today I left out way early after dropping my room-mate off for work feeling very excited because I was going to go to my all time favorite hobby supply store to purchase some Red Heart Tweed yarn that I have had my eye on forever. Well when I got there they only had two colors of the stuff... cranberry and some odd greenish stuff. I was MAD! Dammit! And then to make things worse the little old lady who works the yarn isles told me that they were discontinuing the Red Heart Tweed Yarn... Ok now I'm DOUBLE MAD!! Why is it that when a guy like me finds a yarn he thinks he will like, those damn bitches stop getting the stuff before I can try it out? Oh and then she proceeded to say that Hobby Lobby usually replaces discontinued yarns with a similar hobby lobby brand yarn. I was devestated. The only good store I know of, the one store where I love to shop is now going to shit! Not only are they getting rid of yarns I would like to buy, but they are filling up their shelves will this stupid ass fringy, furry, mohairy, bumpy, lumpy, freckled, jeckled, and hyde scary ass frilly yarn that I don't want to have anything to do with.... I decided to buy some camouflage yarn and 10" length size 9 needles to make scarfs with.... which now takes us to MICHAELS.

Oh Michaels is severely on the top of my shit list today. After leaving Hobby Lobby, I drove over to Michaels craft store hoping that they would have the tweed yarn I wanted. But they didn't have it. When I walked in the door it was wall to wall junk everywhere. It looked like Hurricane Katrina came back as if she missed that store on her first trip ashore! So after I scurried all the way to the back of the store through all the mess they had everywhere, what do you think I found? It was one stinking isle full of more of that gaudy yarn that I could have bought back at hobby lobby. There was hardly no yarn that I like there at all. I will not be going back to Michaels store anytime in the near future. And if Hobby Lobby keeps up their crap with discontinuing my favorite yarns I'll stop shopping there as well. I'll just start ordering what I want online and save the gas in my jeep for a nice ride to the park instead.

I am so happy! My room-mate got a job laying carpet. Now I get more time for myself and might actually get to start saving some money for a change lol.

Well this blog is getting old I think... or maybe I'm just bored with it. Not that I mean I'm so bored I'm gonna stop writing. Nah I just think it's time to redo this thing with a new design. I think I'm gonna do up a template to match our website... you know the one I've been saying I was working on... but truthfully I haven't touched in weeks and still don't know when it will be ready... yeah that one lol. Well I'll find time as soon as I can find time to find some time.

Ditched My Phone For MP3 Player

Ok so it turns out that I didn't really like the Motorola V60 Cellphone that I recently bought... so I returned it to T-Mobile and went to Best Buy and bought the MP3 player that I've been wanting. It is an iRiver H10 mp3 player and it has a 20GB capacity which should be enough space to rip all of my favorite songs from my 400+ cd collection and still have room enough for some tunes I've downloaded off the internet. More pictures coming soon after I get all my cd's ripped and loaded on the player.

In my knitting world I'm still working on the Harvest scarf. I'm not sure if one ball of yarn is going to be enough to finish it and I may have to buy some more yarn.

Anyway I've started spring cleaning already this year. I loaded up in my jeep an old home stereo, a lamp, some dollar store items that were never used, an old computer printer, a Pioneer 300 cd disc changer that had been sitting in the closet for two years, a few other things I hadn't used in ages. I took a trip to the Mission Thrift store and donated it all to them. I figured maybe someone eventually might find a use for it all and I claimed a small space back in my spare bedroom from getting rid of all that unneeded crap.

Here is what's left and what I'll be working on to declutter this spring cleaning season. It's a very small room so it's really not as much stuff as it seems and most of it is craft supplies stored in huge plastic storage bins so it shouldn't take too long to get it all cleaned up.... that is when I find the time to do it among all of the other 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 things I have to do.

A Break From The Cold

This week has been very nice weatherwise for this time of year in Alabama. It was so nice outside yesterday that I decided to get out and enjoy it as you can see in this photo. That's me working on another scarf I started this week. I'm knitting it in Lion Brand Homespun yarn. The color is "Harvest". I'm planning on doing one in every color of this yarn that I can get my hands on. I'm also still working on skull caps. Now that the holidays are over it's time to get back to business I guess. I still haven't completed working on the cool guys knit website so I don't know if it's going to be running by February like I had planned... but it will be there sooner or later.

I got a new toy yesterday. It's a Motorola V360 cellphone. It's a really cool phone that plays MP3's, has built in camera and records video clips. I haven't had a chance to really play with it enough to write a review for it but I will soon. I'm going to start a brand new moblog with it as soon as I can get out to take some pictures.

2006

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Christmas Is Almost Here

Just a little Ziggy humor I found while surfing the web tonight.

Well I've been really busy lately trying to finish making all of my xmas gifts. Hey guy's and girl's. Do you know that in this day and age it is almost totally makes no sense to listen to commercial FM radio. It is an old medium that leaves little choice of music and is saturated with ad after ad after ad. For a few years now there has been a wonderful ad-free alternative, streaming internet radio and you can find hundreds of commercial free stations all over the internet.

I want to tell you about this cool little program I found tonight. It's called Screamer Radio. You can listen to, and record mp3 files of your favorite music from your favorite streaming internet radio station, and the program is very simple to use.

Get the program and check out some of the stations in the presets list and if you don't find your style of music then go to shoutcast.com to find radio streams that you like.

I hope you have a cd or dvd burner because when you get this program your gonna need it to burn all that music you record to make space on your computer *smile*

How hard can it be to find instructions on how to do the two color brioche stitch?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! It's not brand new but it's better than nothing. It is a 1989 Jeep Cherokee 4X4, made in the same year that I graduated from high school. I got it yesterday and it runs great... except right now it's not running anywhere because I ran the battery down last night... ooops!!! That's just my luck though lol. I should get it jump started this evening as soon as my brother or my dad can stop by with the jumper cables. I am buying it from my mom and at first I didn't think I was going to like it too well but after driving it for awhile I think it's the most fun vehicle I've ever had. It's got a tented sun roof which is something I've never had in a car before so that's really cool, and it's got an automatic transmission which is awesome for me because I can't drive a manual shift worth a damn. The paint is faded as you can tell but who cares. After being without a car for over four months now I am soooo happy to get this. Oh and it's got leather seats.

I have finished knitting one of my christmas gifts. It is a long brown fun fur scarf I made for my sister-n-law. This is not a great photo but you get the idea of what it looks like. I am now working on a camouflage skull caps that I am making for my brothers and my dad and then I have one more scarf to finish for my mom and that should take care of christmas this year.

A New Name and A New Look

I decided to change the name of this blog to go along with the website we are putting together. I have too much stuff to do and not nearly enough time to do it. Since I'm pretty much broke I'm resorting to making all of my christmas gifts this year which includes two scarfs, and three if not more caps which have to be finished before the 25th of December. I still have tons of work to do on our website if I'm going to have it up and running by February. I want to get an early start on my spring cleaning this year so I can get this place cleared out. There is just too much junk laying around that hasn't been used in ages and I'm tired of looking at it.

For someone like me who only works three days out of each week you would think I'd have time to do all these things. Maybe I'm just very lazy or maybe I try to do too many things at once. I should have gotten started on the christmas gifts two months ago and they would have been finished by now and I should have finished all the spring cleaning when it was spring time....

Anyway I have been offered the chance to buy my mothers jeep which isn't the greatest vehicle around but it seems to be pretty dependable and I really need a ride. The weather is really getting cold and bitter now and it's not fun riding my bicycle to work. It will be nice to have a way to go again.

Well I gotta get busy knitting. I'm working on a fun fur scarf for my sis-n-law. I'll post a picture of it soon.

Crocheted Christmas Tree Ribbon Is Finished

You never really know how long 30 feet really is until you try to crochet something that long lol. The picture isn't crystal clear (sorry) but you get the idea. Now all I've got to do is finish knitting up the white bows and my tree will perfect (I think lol)... well at least it will look better than it ever has before anyway.

Well, I'm having a rough weekend! Work is absolutely kicking my ass! But it's ok... I only have one more day to get through and then I get four days off to knit, crochet, work on my site, sit on my ass..... you know.... play time! It's almost 30 feet long so it should fill up my tree a lot.... and I'm making great use of some old crochet thread that has been stashed in boxes for ages. I should be able to put this on the tree in a few days if I can find the time to finish it throughout the weekend.

We've gotten the tree filled out with white lights now. So far I've managed to get my blogger profile filled out. Over the next week or so I'll try to get my links back up along with my RSS blog feeds. I appreciate everybody's patience with this. Time is very crucial right now as always so I haven't been able to get this blog rolling along as it used to be but it will get better after the holidays are over.

It is soon going to be time for us to start breaking out the beads and jewelry making supplies again to start making some new summer jewelry. I can't wait to get into that!

I discovered this while surfing the web today. The technique which I also discovered today is a form of japanese braiding called Kumihimo. Thanksgiving is next Thursday, and then Christmas is coming soon. I am officially in holiday mode now..... ok well I've got lots of things I WANT to do.... but that doesn't mean I'll be able to do it all lol. I have a lot of work to do to decorate my tree this year. I have maybe 10 or 15 ornaments in all to go on a six foot tall tree. I have never really had a pretty christmas tree in my own home, so I'm gonna be busy over the next few weeks trying to make some ornaments. I will either knit them, or crochet them.... and I thought about stringing some bead garland as well. I've already made a few knitted bow ornaments and they look awesome. Check out the picture below.

I'm planning on making two dozen of these red and green knitted bow ornaments of which I have fifteen of them made so far. Then I'm going to make two dozen more in white. After that I have no clue what other ornaments I'm going to make. We'll just have to see when that time comes.

This is my ugly christmas tree. Yes, that's right. The christmas tree is up a week before Thanksgiving. Early I know, but I couldn't wait lol. I love christmas trees. I have a lot of work to do if I'm going to make this tree look good. I'm not sure if you can tell, but there are both color lights, and white lights on my tree lol. The reason for that is because half of my old white lights are blown out so I had to make due by adding my string of color flasher lights. It's only temporary though. I bought new white lights today and I'm planning on taking the tree apart on Monday and completely restringing the new white lights on it. I do not like the white lights mixed with the color lights. It doesn't look bad... but it doesn't look good either.

Anyway, guess what!! I got my hair cut today. I didn't get cut that much... just cut some off the back to even it up all around my fat head. I've never had my hair cut in this style before so I think it's gonna take me some getting used to, but I don't think it looks too bad. And I think it will help to make it all look better once it grows out again.

I've got another new cap to show off. I finished this one last night. This one is a ribbed style, blue with a white stripe. I wasn't sure it was going to come out very well. It's another one of my own patterns. I like it, and I'll be making a lot more of these. It will be fun to experiment with colors and stripes with this pattern.

Well my work weekend begins tomorrow so I won't get to do very much crafting or work done on my website. You know what? I hate working lol. It takes away too much of my knitting and play time, but I gotta pay my bills right. Ugh! *rolls eyes*

Cool Guy's Knit

I'm getting more progress done on our website, Cool Guy's Knit, and it's really starting to look good I think.

I woke up late today which sucks because I had planned on getting some work done on my knitting, but it doesn't look like I'll get to it this evening.... at least not much of it anyway. If you would like to see how it's coming along you can click this link to check it out.

We are starting a tattoo gallery (among lots of other things) on our website. So if you have a really cool tattoo and wouldn't mind letting us show it off we would love it if you could send us your picture to be added to the gallery. Just send us the email with your pic, along with your name, the state you live in, and your homepage web address if you have one to krazy4root@yahoo.com (my email address), and I'll get your photo and homepage in the gallery. It would also be nice if you could tell us what inspired you to get your tattoo, when you got it, and if your tattoo is especially unique tell us what it means or represents.

I haven't gotten much knitting done this week since I finished the christmas cap, but I did get started on a ribbed skull cap. It's blue and it's gonna have a single white stripe on it. I'll try to get it finished and post a picture soon.

Changed Template

Well as you can see, I have changed my template (again). I'm using one of bloggers default templates which I don't really like, but since I have so many other things to do I really don't have time to build a cool template for this blog. But maybe I'll get a chance to jazz it up a bit when the holidays are over.

I haven't had a chance to rewrite my blogger profile or add links or anything else, but I will as soon as I get some time. I have lost all of my archives to this blog so here we go with a brand new start...... and I don't think I like this template I'm using right now so I'll probably be changing it soon.

Here's a couple of things I've been working on lately.....

I started on a Christmas Skull Cap using red, white, and green variegated yarn. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out.

I've also been working my ass off on building my new website. The image below shows a small preview of what the site looks like. I had forgot how much work building a website can be. It took me all day yesterday just to get pictures of eight caps and get them indexed on a shopping page. Anyway that's what I've been up too lately.

Doesn't my site look cool!?
